We're soo excited to show you something we've been working on behind the scenes. It has a little something to do with this month's featured kit club and the word "exclusive". First, let me tell you a little bit about Gossamer Blue...

Located in California, Gossamer Blue is a monthly crafts club dedicated to inspiring and motivating memory keepers and crafters alike. Not only is a fabulous box of well-coordinated crafting products shipped to your door each month, you will also find valuable, exclusive resources and incentives for inspiring and motivating you all month long. We believe our job has only just begun after the kits ship.

Founder & Designer Lori Gentile launched Gossamer Blue in 2012, after nearly a decade of designing and coordinating for scrapbooking kit clubs and manufacturers. Lori’s twelve-year career in Corporate America and her subsequent years in the Scrapbooking Industry have taught her to value organization and customer service above all else.

The Gossamer Blue June Main kit includes a wonderful variety of papers and embellishments from several great manufacturers, including Lily Bee Design. 

Our very own, Kristen, owner of Lily Bee Design, collaborated with Lori and designed two EXCLUSIVE papers for the main kit and a fabulous stamp for one of the add-on kits! These are not to be missed!Take a look.

Guest Designer | April | Paige Evans

Today is the last reveal from our amazingly talented guest designer, Paige Evans. She has wowed us with her projects all month and this one is no exception.  Let's take a look at the final layout she created using the Lily Bee Design Sweet Shoppe and Destination collections.

THE CUTEST

How to: Trim a flower petal shape from cardboard then trace it onto both sides of every paper from the Sweet Shoppe collection, cut out the pieces, then sew around them to create a quilted look. Arrange the petals into a flower on a yellow cardstock background. Add a large crocheted doily to the center and top it with three photos. Make a title from letter stickers and embellish with a fabric brad, patterned button, and an assortment of stickers. Punch a partial scalloped border on each corner of the layout. Pierce a stickpin with a baker's twine bow tied on it through two of the punched edges. Drop aqua spray mist by the stickpins.

Happy Thursday, Lily Bee friends! We're back with another inspiring layout from our guest designer this month, Paige Evans. Let's take a look...

A BOY & HIS STICK

Journaling says:

Fox is so flippin' excited every time we walk by this house and find some sticks for him to hold and wave around. What is it with boys and sticks? Whatever floats his boat!

 

How to: Die cut a geometric background from gray cardstock then back most of the pieces with patterned paper from the Destination collection as well as four photos. Draw a border around the photos with a white pen to draw attention to them. Back one section with white cardstock and write journaling on it with a black pen. By the journaling add a letter sticker title in one section and place a sentiment label sticker and the date stamped on another label sticker tucked under a "GO" badge. Stamp the date again in white in a section on the top left side. Tie brown baker's twine in a bow around a section on the left side. Place a red fabric brad and yellow button on sections with paper of the same color. Drop white spray mist across the layout.

Our super fabulous guest designer, Paige Evans, is back with us again today to share two great cards she made using our Sweet Shoppe and Pinwheel collections.

Happy Birthday Card

How to: Punch starbursts from an assortment of papers from the Sweet Shoppe and Pinwheel collections and arrange them evenly spaced across a cream cardstock card base. Stitch double circles around three of the starbursts. Add a pink "happy birthday" sticker to an aqua label sticker, place a bow tied with gray baker's twine at the top, and adhere the embellishment on the right edge; trim any excess.

How to: Stitch a double border with white thread around a dark gray cardstock card base. Punch squares from the Pinwheel collection, fold the opposite corners of each square in to create a diamond, then arrange the diamonds across the card base in three rows. Layer label stickers, letter stickers, a flower fabric brad, and red striped button on the right edge to create a focal point and sentiment.

Guest Designer | April | Paige Evans

It's the first Thursday of the month and that means it's time to showcase our May guest designer. I am over the moon excited to welcome someone who I've been fortunate enough get to know and adore. Paige Evans has a great eye for design and has a way of mixing patterns like you wouldn't believe. You'll get to see for yourself throughout the month but first let's get to know a little about Paige.

My very first job when I was 16 years old (12 years ago now) was at a local scrapbooking store in Redmond, WA called Yesterdays. I've been addicted to scrapping ever since! Sometimes I think about what my life would be like now if I hadn't walked in and asked for an application (which they didn't have, they just took my phone number!) because so much of my life has revolved around scrapbooking since then... I work full-time from home for Northridge Publishing (the makers of Scrapbook Trends/CARDS/Simply Handmade/Bead Trends/Cricut/Cricut Idea Books/Create: Idea Books) and I also have the fun and amazing job of being the American Crafts Blog Hostess/Design Team Coordinator. Aside from scrapbooking I love spending time with my husband of six years, Chris, playing with our two-and-a-half-year-old son Fox and 9 month old baby girl Jane. I love to create on a daily basis and enjoy dabbling in everything from fine arts (painting, drawing, sculpting, printmaking, etc.), to bookbinding, basketweaving, photography, graphic design, and more! 

Q&A with Paige:

What is your favorite Lily Bee Design product and why? I love the Brad, Badge, Button & Baker’s Bundle – what more could you need for embellishing? The texture of the brads, the dimension of the badges and buttons, and the string that can be used in so many ways is just awesome.

Where do you find your inspiration? From layouts that people to submit to the magazines I work for, galleries like TwoPeas, Studio Calico, and Pinterest!

What is your favorite subject to scrapbook about? This one is easy – my sweet son and darling daughter!

What is your favorite technique that you like to use on cards or layouts? I love including lots of different patterned papers! The more I can fit, the merrier!

RIGHT NOW by Paige Evans

Journaling says: This picture was taken on Easter Sunday 2013 before we headed to church. Just a snapshot of our little family. Chris holding Fox and Paige holding Jane. We are a happy family!

How to: Lightly distress the edges of a blue cardstock background. Punch 3" squares from each patterned paper in the Pinwheel collection and trim them into triangles again and again until you have a bunch of sizes. Place a photo on the top left side of the background and arrange the triangles around the photo. Embellish the photo with three patterned buttons, a sentiment pennant sticker, and number stickers. Place label stickers on the edges of the layout, trim the excess, and stamp the date on the left one and write journaling on the right ones. Attach a fabric brad on the left and right edges, connect them with a piece of gray baker's twine, and staple the twine in place. Drop black spray mist around the layout.

Guest Designer | March | Mary Ann Jenkins

We are back again today with our final project from guest designer, Mary Ann Jenkins. She has wowed us with her creativity and the response to her projects here and on our Facebook page has been tremendous.  Let's check out one last layout from Mary Ann and read what she has to say:

One of my favorite things about all the new Lily Bee paper collections is how well they go together, they all mix and match beautifully. For my layout I used papers from each and every collection!

Supplies Used: Pinwheel Collection (Kite Strings -PWP306, Cherry Blossom - PWPW303), Sweet Shoppe (Jelly Bean - SSP292) Destination ( Passport - DSP327)

With my photo as a starting point, I cut the various oval shapes out of the brown paper to resemble the stone path in the picture, then used the blue chevron stripe paper layered behind it to mimic the water. I added a few layers behind the photo and the strip of red floral paper to bring out the red in my daughters pants and just to look cute ;) Since this is about feeding the ducks, I also added the red feather that I found at my local craft store. A quick and easy layout, but a great memory recorded!

I also want to say thank you again so very much to Lily Bee for having me as their guest designer this month. I've had a great time playing with your fabulous papers!

We're excited to have Mary Ann Jenkins back with us again this week. We challenged Mary Ann to create layouts using primarily patterned paper and just a few embellishments. She rose to the occasion with these clean and simple layouts. Let's see what she had to say...

Hello Lily Bee friends! I have two fun layouts to share with you today. First up, in keeping with this weeks focus of "Outside your Window", I went with a vacation photo taken out of a helicopter window.

 

Don't you just *love* the woodgrain paper with the bokeh hearts!

 

 

Next, I used  a variety of colors for this page about my daughter.

 

We have a little saying between us that I'm so lucky to be her mommy, and that she is like the gold at the end of a rainbow. Of course I had to use gold letters and added some sequins too!

Hi Lily Bee friends! Out guest deisgner, Mary Ann Jenkins is back with us today to share a cards she created.

Let's take a look at what Mary Ann created and what she has to say about our new collections.

Hello friends, I have three cards to share with you today! First up, in keeping with this weeks theme of "Negative Space"  this fun little card with a negative cut speech bubble.

I used my Silhouette machine to cut the speech bubble from my top layer of cardstock, then hand stitched the cute little red heart.

My next card was made with some of my favorite papers from the Destination collection. Perfect for sending photos to extended family that came to visit.  (She's a scrapbooker that's doing Project Life so I made the card 4x6 so it could be used in her album to go along with the photos from their trip)

After fussy cutting two of each of the circles, I folded one in half, then layered one circle on top of the other with a tiny piece of foam tape in between to give it a bit of dimension.

And finally, a 6x6 card to send to a friend after a wonderful day of laughing and shopping together.

I again used a small piece of foam tape to give the speech bubble a bit of dimension, then added a few sequins for sparkle.

I am soo excited to introduce you to our March guest designer. The talented Mary Ann Jenkins will be with us throughout the month and I just know her projects will inspire you. Let's take a moment to learn more about her. 

Hi everyone! I’m Mary Ann Jenkins from sunny Southern California. I have 3 awesome boys, 1 sweet little princess, and a wonderful husband that are the subjects of many of my scrapbook layouts. I love recording the memories and stories we create in our everyday lives.

I’ve been scrapping since 1987, when I heard a commercial on the radio about learning to preserve family memories. A few patterned papers and decorative scissors later I was hooked, and never imagined scrapbooking would become a passion, or that I would have a room in my home dedicated to the hobby.

When I am not in my scrapbook studio making a mess I enjoy: spending time with my family, flea markets, shopping for hours at Target, taking my camera everywhere I go and bracelets. A girl can never have too many bracelets!!

Q&A with Mary Ann:

What is your favorite Lily Bee Design product and why? Oh the paper! I always love the patterns and beautiful rich colors.

Where do you find your inspiration? I've found inspiration everywhere from a magazine add to a label on a package of bagles. You never know when an idea will strike.

What can you not scrapbook without? I can't scrapbook without a Dr. Pepper somewhere on my scrapbook table 

Mary Ann decided to play along with this week's "Inspired by" focus. Here's what she said, "I too am one that finds inspiration on Pinterest, which is where I found these inspiring words that were originally spoken from Christopher Robin to Winnie the Pooh."

This quote is perfect to use on a layout for her daughter. I just love how the quote takes up such a large part of the layout yet doesn't dominate the sweet photo.The red really ties the entire layout together and helps to make the photo pop against the background paper.

I love how Mary Ann accented the key words in a different color to help them stand out from the other words. You can achieve this look but simply die cutting words or shapes on your paper and then backing the negative image on the paper with contrasting papers.

Guest Designer | December | Leigh Penner

It's December and that means a new Guest Designer for us here on the Lily Bee blog!  We were so impressed with all of the Design Team applications that came in a couple months ago, that we've selected a few of our favorites here to our blog over the next few months as our Guest Designers! One of those fabulously talnted ladies, is December's Guest, Leigh Penner!  Please welcome, Leigh and let's get to know her a bit more before jumping into her gorgeous projects for this week!

My name is Leigh Penner and I live in Morden, Manitoba, Canada, with my husband of 16 years, Cameron, and our three children: Austin (13), Jonah (10) & Sage (8). Although I would love to craft full time (wouldn't that be fabulous?), most days, I work as a substitute teacher at our local high school.

I started scrapbooking almost 10 years ago, when Jonah was 9 months old. I hosted a class at my home and was instantly hooked!  I love everything about this hobby: taking photos, playing with paper, making embellishments, stamping and journaling. It's just all so wonderful! My style tends to be more clean and simple, but with some fun details & stitching thrown in here and there. Over the past two years, I've gotten more into card making as well and I consider myself equally a scrapbooker and a card maker.

I've been on a few design teams over the years and have had several layouts, cards and mini-albums published in publications such as Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbooks Etc., Simple Scrapbooks, Scrapbook Answers, Memory Makers, Scrapbook Trends, Papercrafts & Cards Magazine. I was thrilled to be asked by Lily Bee to guest design for them this month!

When I'm not making cards or layouts, I enjoy going for bike rides (but only when it's warm out!), reading and cuddling on the couch with my kids and watching movies. I have my first degree black belt in taekwondo (& hope to test for my 2nd degree next spring). I have also recently taken up knitting and crocheting.

We asked Leigh to help us out during our Holiday Inspiration Series and she's done a super job this week sharing how you can use Persnickety even for your holiday packaging and decorating! Here's what Leigh had to say about her projects:

The colours and designs in the Persnickety line are just so pretty, I couldn't resist using them to make some Christmas gift tags and treat bags.

To wrap up a gift for our taekwondo instructor, I cut a piece of patterned paper to 7" wide and wrapped it over the white wrapping paper. I added another tag with some ribbon. Using several dies and using the negative  part of a tree, I was able to build my tag. I also diecut part of a sticker to ground my tree and I added two little brads as embellishments. 

 

Supplies: Persnickety (Ritzy Paper, Fussy Paper, Mixed Cardstock Stickers) 

I made the tag by diecutting some patterned paper with a die. I matted one of the Lily Bee stickers on some cardstock before adhering it to my card. I also matted one of the little triangle stickers-- by adding a strip of patterned paper for the stump, it becomes an adorable little Christmas tree! A stamped sentiment on a banner diecut, some ribbon, a button and some twine finish it off.

Supplies: Persnickety (Ritzy Paper,  Mixed Cardstock Stickers)

For my treat bag, I cut a banner from the green chevron patterned paper and adhered it to the front of my bag.  I then diecut a doily and banner. I stamped on the banner, scored it, folded it and adhered it to the patterned paper, using foam adhesive. On the doily, I adhered some more triangle stickers and created a little grouping of trees, all with patterned paper stumps before adhering it to the treat bag. -Leigh Penner

Hi Lily Bee fans! It's Thursday and our Guest Designer for November, Annabelle O'Malley is back helping us to create projects for this week's Mixed Cardstock Stickers theme!

Annabelle has an inspiring layout to share this week! Take a look! 

Here's what Annabelle had to say about her project:

Sunbursts are really trendy right now and I love the way they look. Since my page was about my son's love of archery, I decided to borrow the concept, but use arrows rather than sun rays on my page.

I used the banner stickers from  the Autumn Spice, Persnickety and Christmas Cheer Mixed cardstock sticker sheets to create the rays of arrows shooting out from the photo. I mixed them and layered them slightly on top of each other.

Hi Lily Bee fans! It's Thursday and our Guest Designer for November, Annabelle O'Malley is back helping us to create projects for this week's Thankful theme!

Let's take a look at what Annabelle created and what she had to say about using our Autumn Spice collection!

I love to emboss cardstock when I make tags and cards. On these cards, I accented the embossed cardstock with some Autumn Spice Goodies. 

I cut a variety of leaves using my Silhouette. (If you don't have one, you can handcut leaves.). I created a fanfolded flower on the So Thankful card and tucked the leaves under it. I folded them in half to give them some texture. The letter stickers were perfect for my sentiment. 

On the Give thanks card, I used a piece of the patchwork paper to create a border on the bottom of the card. The Give Thanks sticker was adhered to a die cut and the leaves finished it off. - Annabelle O'Malley

November Guest Designer-Anabelle O' Malley

Can you believe it's November today?  That means we have a new Guest Designer for the month.    I would love to introduce you to the fabulous Anabelle O Malley.  Let's find out a little more about her.

Hi! I’m Anabelle O’Malley!  I live in Delaware with my husband and
our nine year old son, Ryan, along with our orange tabby, Pulu. I work at the University of Delaware where I support young children and teachers in child care centers throughout our state. Before Ryan came along, I was an elementary school teacher.

I’ve been paper crafting for the past eight years and have loved every minute of it. It truly is my creative outlet. As a child, I would spend hours drawing and making cards for people, so this is just a natural extension of my love for all things paper. Along with creating layouts, I still love card making and trying out new techniques. My creations contain lots of texture and details, layering and clustering. I love mixing colors and patterns! When I’m not scrapping, I can be found running Ryan around to his many activities, spending time with friends and family, cooking, reading or hitting the gym.

Anabelle created this Hello There card using our Persnickety Line.  I love the doily stamp she has used from our Persnickety set against the kraft background.

Next up she has created a layout using more of the stamps.  She has turned them into an embellishment at the top of her layout.  And love the use of the "everyday life" as a border along the bottom.

Guest Designer | October | Marcy Penner

Hi Lily Bee fans! It's Thursday and that means it's time for another installment of our weekly Guest Designer post.

Since it's the last Thursday in October, unfortunately that means its time to say goodbye to our wonderfully talented September Guest Designer, Marcy Penner. We've adored having Marcy join us here on the blog this past month, and know you have too! 

Marcy has created some darling cards for us today using Christmas Cheer. Here's what Marcy had to say about her creations:

I love the little pennant stickers.  They're a favorite of mine.  I used three on this card and stitched them underneath the card sentiment that was cut out of patterned paper.  I wanted another subtle accent so I punched some stars out of vellum and stapled them on.

I also wanted to make a card that could be very easily reproduced for when you need a LOT of cards and you need to do them quick!  The paper with the Santas caught my eye, so I trimmed of one of him and adhered him to a tag and stamped "joy" below him.

I can totally see making a large quantity of this one.
