It's that time again! We'll begin this week with a new sketch to get your creative juices flowing. I've (Ursula) been thinking in terms of sketches more and more lately. It isn't always the way I roll, but I'm getting more and more comfortable with it.
On this occasion, I was inspired by none other than my bathrooms towel rack. I noticed the rack and the different sized towels lined up on it and decided it would make a great foundation for a sketch. What do you think? Can you see how my inspiration began?

Ms. Lisa Dickenson joined me on this sketch and created her own layout based on the sketch.
(Lily Bee Supplies: Double Dutch patterned papers (Celery, Lemonade) Persnickety patterned paper (Ritzy) Stationery patterned paper (Mushroom) Happily Lost 6x6 Tiny Tablet Index Journal Cards (Double Dutch, Buttercup) ABC Cardstock Stickers)
I love how Lisa has borrowed the form of the sketch but really made it her own. She borrows elements in her chevrons and the placement of the groupings and in the banner portion.
Love that she typed her journaling directly on her background piece.
My layout is a bit different. I went for a very girly, feminine page to accentuate an important phase of my daughter becoming a young woman. I decided to mainly stick with the form of the original sketch but added a bit more detail.

(Lily Bee Supplies: Memorandum Collection(Patterned Paper) Handmade Collection (Bag O Bits, Mixed Cardstock Sticker, Patterned Paper) Victoria Park Collection (Patterned Paper), Buttercup (Mixed Cardstock Stickers, Patterned Paper) Persnickity (ABC Cardstock Stickers, Mixed Cardstock Stickers, Journal Cards, Clear Stamps) Autumn Spice (Clear stamps), Christmas Cheer (Clear Stamps)
I chose to mirror the border from the top of the sketch at the bottom as well. I used the blocks in the bottom left corner of the sketch as building blocks. They were a foundation to which I added color, pattern and depth.
