Let's kick off Monday with a new sketch challenge! We hope you'll be inspired to participate (and the chance to win a monthly Lily Bee Prize package should entice you to play along, right?!)
This week's fabulous sketch is from Maísa Mendonça, and it features a grid foundation with a cluster of photos in the lower left corner:
A grid is a great way to start a page because it adds instant stability and balance. Plus, the little squares are the perfect place to add lots of layers and little details! Design team member Lisa Dickinson layered shapes punched from cardstock and the Persnickety paper line to adorn her grid.
Lily Bee supplies: Persnickety patterned papers, Persnickety Index Journal Cards,
Persnickety ABC Cardstock Stickers
She topped them off with snippets cut from Index Journal Cards and a random assortment of buttons. She added the chevron designs featured in the sketch at the edges of her layout, using a stencil and paint to create a subtle accent:
Since the grid design contained lots of elements and was very detailed, Lisa placed the title vertically up the left hand side, pairing a die-cut word with the ABC Cardstock Stickers.
Then Maìsa took on her own sketch and created a softer, tone-on-tone grid for the backdrop of her page:
Lily Bee supplies: Buttercup patterned papers, Handmade patterned papers, Buttercup Bag of Bits, Buttercup ABC Cardstock Stickers, Double Dutch Mixed Cardstock Stickers
Lovely layered papers, die cuts and twine highlight the cluster in the lower left corner of Maìsa's page. The Buttercup Bag of Bits make embellishing areas like these super quick and easy!
To make her focal point even stronger, Maìsa cleverly cut chevrons from the Buttercup patterned paper Puddles, and framed her grouping with the bright aqua graphic:
And now we want to you see YOUR take on the sketch! Here are the rules to keep in mind:
1. Your layout must use at 70% Lily Bee products
2. Post your layout to our Flickr Gallery here to be eligible for the monthly Sketch Challenge prize drawing
3. Title your post "Lily Bee August Sketch Challenge" so we can find it easily.
4. The deadline is Friday, August 17, 2012 at 9PM MST. Winners will be posted in Kristen's August news post on August 24th.
